Vasilki Skendou, Kindergarten Papagiannis, Greece: "Activities of November"

"What is the problem?"

We read the 2nd chapter of the story and they expressed their opinion on how we can better use water so that plants grow healthy and we don't waste it. "How can technology help with this?"

They observed forms of watering, discussed, reached conclusions, and drew their ideas.

"How technology helps save water"

The children drew their ideas about technology.

"Science Experiment"

They experimented with different forms of watering (watering with lots of water and watering with a spray bottle), observed, and came to conclusions.

"Engineering: Robot construction"

The children were given various materials, such as cardboard tubes in different sizes, aluminum foil, straws, caps, beads, craft googly eyes, pipe cleaners, modeling clay, glue, and cardboard. The children worked together and constructed a robot using the tubes, which they wrapped in aluminum foil and joined together. They attached eyes and various beads representing the robot’s buttons, and used pipe cleaners to create its arms. In addition, they used straws and caps to build a rain sensor and a humidity sensor. Using straws and blue drops of modeling clay, they constructed a drip irrigation system. On the back of the robot, they attached a straw through which it could draw water from the lake to water the plants.

"Engineering: Bridge construction"

The children were given various materials (paper rolls in various sizes, glue, sticks, cardboard), they discussed, experimented, made decisions, collaborated and built the bridge.

"Mathematics"

The children counted how many drops each pot needed, wrote down the number, compared the drops each pot needed, and decided which pot needed more and which needed fewer.

"Digital Games"
The children played Digital Games
