Vasilki Skendou, Kindergarten Papagiannis, Greece: "Activities of October"
A little drop named Damla visited our class. She told the children a story about a lake that had dried up.
The children suggested how to save water.
The children watched the
video about the water cycle and placed the pictures in the correct order so
that the water cycle was formed.
After that the children dramatized the
water cycle through a theatrical play.
The students drew on a
worksheet the image of the rain that was missing from the rain cycle.
The children constructed a
dam using various materials such as a rectangular plastic container, plastic and
wooden blocks, modeling clay, and small stones. They built a wall with the
blocks to hold back the water, and around it they placed modeling clay to
prevent any leaks. At the bottom of the container, they added pebbles and
observed how the dam managed to retain the water.
Then, on the side without
water, they placed a small plastic tree. They slightly opened one part of the
dam to let some water flow out and “water” the plants, then closed it again.
Through this activity, the children realized the importance of saving water.
Certificate
