ARALIK AYI STEM ÇALIŞMALARIMIZ OUR STEM ACTIVITIES FOR DECEMBER Basit bir su filtreleme deneyi yaparak bilim ve teknolojiyi bütünleştirdik. We integrated science and technology by conducting a simple water filtration experiment. In this experiment, dirty water was slowly poured from the top, and cleaner water was observed flowing from the bottom. Children were encouraged to think by asking questions about the experiment such as "What cleaned the water?" and "What other f...

ORTAK ÇALIŞMAMIZ-YENİ YIL TEBRİK KARTLARIMIZ OUR COLLABORATIVE PROJECT - OUR NEW YEAR'S GREETING CARDS Öncelikle öğretmen ve okul karmaşık takımları oluşturuldu. Ardından her grup kendi içerisinde tebrik kartlarını gönderdi. First, mixed teams of teachers and school staff were formed. Then, each group sent out greeting cards within their own group.

Efi Chatzilia, Kindergarten Armenochori, Greece Our actions in December:  The activities are prompted by the continuation of the story: “Damla the drop floats in a river near the Aral Sea. But the river water is not clean; it is full of colored foam and has a bad smell. The fish have difficulty breathing and some look sick. Damla wonders: “What is happening in this river? Why can the water be polluted?” “What kind of waste ends up in our rivers from factories or cities?” “What can we do to prevent this polluted water from harming living things? 1) Children draw and provide solutions to the above questions. They design smart machines and robots that purify water.  2) Science : We design a simple water purification filter  3) ART : Children use various materials to construct a river with clean water and one polluted with garbage.  4) Mathematics: Children use a ruler to measure the amount of water in each glass and write the corresponding number. 5) Engineering:...

Vasilki Skendou, Kindergarten Papagiannis, Greece: "Activities of November"

Image
"What is the problem?" We read the 2nd chapter of the story and they expressed their opinion on how we can better use water so that plants grow healthy and we don't waste it. " How can technology help with this ?"  They observed forms of watering, discussed, reached conclusions, and drew their ideas. "How technology helps save water" The children drew their ideas about technology. "Different kinds of irrigation" Match photos and icons "Science Experiment" They experimented with different forms of watering (watering with lots of water and watering with a spray bottle), observed, and came to conclusions. "Engineering: Robot construction" The children were given various materials, such as cardboard tubes in different sizes, aluminum foil, straws, caps, beads, craft googly eyes, pipe cleaners, modeling clay, glue, and cardboard. The children worked together and constructed a robot using the tubes, which they wrapped in aluminu...

GİZEM MORAN-ATATÜRK PRİMARY SCHOOL-ÇANAKKALE/TURKEY-OUR STEM ACTIVITIES FOR NOVEMBER

Students are shown pictures of efficient irrigation methods. They are pasted on the board. They are asked whether they have seen them around them and which ones they have seen. They are then told that they will play a matching game about these methods, trying to find which irrigation methods match which example. The goal is to become aware of irrigation methods that will ensure water efficiency. This activity was conducted as a large group activity. "Kayıp Gölün Peşinde: Damla'nın Hikayesi...

Efi Chatzilia, Kindergarten Armenochori, Greece November: On the occasion of Damla's history, we implemented actions that focus on saving water when watering crops, on getting to know different irrigation and water supply systems, as well as on the construction of an irrigation system and a bridge. Science: the children are concerned about the ways of watering the fields. They conclude that we should choose the appropriate means of watering so as not to waste water. They experiment with watering with a bottle and a sprayer. -Children experiment and discover that different types of soil (soil, sand, pebbles) absorb different amounts of water. Technology: “How does technology help farmers?” Objective: Understanding the role of technology in agriculture. Children watch pictures and a short film with modern irrigation systems (sprinklers, sensors, pipes). Discussion follows: “How can we use robots or sensors to water plants only when they need them?” Children activate their imagin...

Vasilki Skendou, Kindergarten Papagiannis, Greece: "Activities of October"

Image
A little drop named Damla visited our class. She told the children a story about a lake that had dried up. The children suggested  how to save water. The children watched the video about the water cycle and placed the pictures in the correct order so that the water cycle was formed. After that the children dramatized the water cycle through a theatrical play. The students drew on a worksheet the image of the rain that was missing from the rain cycle. They continued with STEAM activities.  Science We did in the class the experiment  "Rain Cloud". The students made the rain with water, shaving cream and tempera paint. They were amazed!! Technology The children played digital games about the water cycle and save water. Engineering The children constructed a dam using various materials such as a rectangular plastic container, plastic and wooden blocks, modeling clay, and small stones. They built a wall with the blocks to hold back the water, and around it they placed m...
